Interview: HTC chief Florian Seiche says Google’s G1 phone will kill off the PC – Telegraph
This is really big news for the entire mobile world,” he says,
after finally managing to tear himself away from the new G1 Google mobile
phone.

Mr Seiche claims the phone, which was launched by Google’s founders Larry Page
and Sergey Brin amid a frenzy of excitement in New York this week, is set to
transform the way we think about the internet – and could even make the
personal computer obsolete.

“It is so fast, responsive and easy to navigate that you basically have
the same browsing experience you would have on your desktop at home,”

About iTouch Learning

Both the iPod Touch and the iPhone use the same multi-touch interface
(shown in the picture to the left);

you control everything with your fingers.

They both have the traditional iPod
functionality to listen to audio (music/podcasts/audiobooks/MP3 files) but also
to watch videos (MPEG-4 files) and view photos.

But they are more than just an iPod

AWEARNESS: The Kenneth Cole Blog: Google Gives Back

googleHand.jpg

Google Inc. has vastly benefited from globalization, so it is
natural — and laudable — that they would want to give back to the
citizens of the world with largesse through their philanthropic arm, Google.org.
For all the positive impacts of globalization (cheaper consumer goods,
the information revolution, greater transparency of rogue regimes
through citizen journalism, a more integrated global economy), there
have been drawbacks (the off-shoring of jobs, the spread of infectious
diseases, a more integrated global economy). Mark Smolinski is Google’s director of the Predict and Prevent Initiative,
a global health program that channels tens of millions of Google’s
dollars and the company’s in-house technology expertise — think Google
Maps and Google News — tackling the problem of infectious disease.
Those challenges, which used to be buried in the international section
of the newspaper, are now only a plane ride away, as we were reminded
by the bird flu pandemic.

HealthMap,
for example, maps and distills information about outbreaks of disease
from around the world. This open and free resource has been favorably reviewed
by The Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association.
HealthMap received a $450,000 grant in 2007 from Dr. Smolinski’s global
public service.

Juice, the cross-platform podcast receiver.
Want to listen to internet audio programs (podcasts), music and shows but can’t when they are scheduled? Juice is for you.

Juice lets users select and download shows and music and play whenever they want on their iPods, portable digital media players, or computers automatically.

I like the idea of democratization of knowledge by widely distributed audio and video snippets. Short, sweet and sticky knols.

VietNamNet – Dance for Life to come in November2008

Dance4Life
will attract the attention of youth and encourage them to learn about
HIV/AIDS, productive health rights through dance, music and messages
sent through their idols.

Dance4life
is held every two years globally when participating countries hold the
same event, at the same moment, and is aired globally.

In
Vietnam, the programme is being conducted by the World Population Fund
(WPF), the Vietnamese HIV/AIDS Prevention Agency, the Ministry of
Health, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Hands in Hands,
and the Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
Vietnam is the second Asian country taking part in this global project.

Dance4Life
will take place on November 29, 2008, with the presence of famous
artists, 3,000 students and representatives of donors and international
non-governmental organisations.

Students and HIV carriers will gather in groups to deliver the message: We are the same, no discrimination.

Dance4Life was founded
in 2003 by Dennis Karpes and Ilco van der Linde in Amsterdam, the
Netherlands, with the message: Start Dancing, Stop Aids. Dance4Life.
